The 6th Annual Streamy Awards, hosted by King Bach, recognizes the talent and work behind today’s best online video content creators.
King Bach introduced the Streamy Awards with an opening monologue that kept him funny and light on his feet in front of a room of video creators who have a combined 62 billion video views. King Bach touched on some racial jokes, poking fun of the fact that he was the first African American male performer to host the Streamy Awards, alongside Chris Rock for the Oscars and Steve Harvey for Miss Universe. During his opening monologue there were brief appearances to break and shake things up such as Casey Neistat and Joanne the Scammer.
Some of the popular presenters for this year were James Van Der Beek, Lilly Singh, Jen McAllister, Logan Paul, Smosh, What’s Up Mom?, and many others.
Between the jokes and laughter it all came down to business when each category was called out and winners were announced. Some of the competing categories covered were best animated series, best breakout creator, best comedy series, best drama series, best feature series, best first person series, best indie series, best international series, best virtual reality and 360 series and best pranks series.
Not only does the Streamy Awards have categories for individual shows but also for other areas of creative talent such as collaborations for best dance, best ensemble cast, best breakthrough artists, best cover song, best original song, best Snapchat storyteller and best Viner.
The two biggest categories considered to win are Entertainer of the Year and Show of the Year. The nominees for entertainer of the year were Baby Ariel, Cameron Dallas, Casey Neistat, The Dolan Twins, Kian Lawley, Lilly Singh, Liza Koshy, Roman Atwood, Sky Does Minecraft, and the winner of the entertainer of the year award went to Yousef Erekat.
As for the best show of the year, the nominees were Camp Unplug, Daily Bumps. The Game Theorists, Good Mythical Morning, McJuggerNuggets’ Psycho Series, Miranda Sings, Rooster Teeth, The Try Guys, The Young Turks, and the winner was The Phillip DeFranco Show.
