Ends Meat

In this drama monologue, SANDY talks to her friend about the difficult financial times she is encountering.

SANDY:  Things were going well for so long, we got caught up with never imagining things would go the way in which they have…

We both came from nothing and struggled for so many years, trying to make ends meat.  When the getting got good, we slowly began to get used to actually enjoying life a bit more…and then, I guess as time went by we lost a sense of worrying about money, which was something we always stressed over and to be honest it just felt so damn good to not have to think about how we were going to pay our rent, or pay for dinner or pay for anything, really.

We forgot to worry…or, at least have a sense of the kind of responsibility we needed to remember.
