Actors need to develop their marketing mindset of having a personal brand through blogging and social media. Whatever your talent may be, that is the thing that the world must see and one of the greatest ways of sharing that talent is through the internet. I’m not saying forget movies, t.v. or theatre, what I’m saying is be strategic and take from those other platforms and add them to your own website. You can do this through text, photos, videos or gifs. Get creative and think about the ways you can leverage your projects in internet media and expand your brand, while still mainly focusing on your acting work. =)
Having a blog site is one of the most powerful ways to promote your acting and grow your industry contacts. It isn’t the only way and the world won’t come crashing down on you if you don’t have a blog site. However, I do feel it’s important enough for you to seriously consider having because it can only grow your career or maintain the career you have. What do you have to lose? Time? Money? Time and money should never get in the way of getting yourself out there as an actor.
