Marketing Tips For Actors

Actors need to develop their marketing mindset of having a personal brand through blogging and social media.  Whatever your talent may be, that is the thing that the world must see and one of the greatest ways of sharing that talent is through the internet.  I’m not saying forget movies, t.v. or theatre, what I’m saying is be strategic and take from those other platforms and add them to your own website.  You can do this through text, photos, videos or gifs.  Get creative and think about the ways you can leverage your projects in internet media and expand your brand, while still mainly focusing on your acting work.  =)

Having a blog site is one of the most powerful ways to promote your acting and grow your industry contacts.  It isn’t the only way and the world won’t come crashing down on you if you don’t have a blog site.  However, I do feel it’s important enough for you to seriously consider having because it can only grow your career or maintain the career you have.  What do you have to lose?  Time?  Money?  Time and money should never get in the way of getting yourself out there as an actor.  That comes with the territory and I’ve included articles further down this post to show you that it doesn’t take much time and it doesn’t cost much money to have a blog site and begin building your professional online presence.

You may not have any idea as to what you can blog about or how a blog functions or why exactly you really should consider having one.  I recommend reading two articles I wrote (below the floating dude with the camera pic…wtf?) that will give you the kind of perspective and understanding of the benefits blogging can provide for your acting career.

After checking out those articles and if you are seeing the validity of having an actor blog set up and working, I would like to next share with you how to go about getting one up online.

I carve out the details in a very easy way by offering you 5 essential steps that you can take to get yourself up and running with your own blog site.  It’s a walk through of choosing your hosting provider, purchasing your domain name, how to go about installing WordPress, picking a good theme for yourself and more.

Once you have your own site up and running and you have been adding blog posts with content featuring your work, the next step is to promote it.  Having your content on your own website just isn’t enough.  You have to take the proper steps to get it seen and get people interested in what you are sharing.

One of the best ways to do that is through social media. Below is an article I’ve written that will give you some insight and strategies into Twitter.  Twitter is a terrific way to meet people in your industry and make new connections.

Keep a look out for additional actor tech articles that provide you with help, insight and strategies to build your personal actor brand online.
