TIFF and Instagram: New Digital Shorts Competition

The Toronto International Film Festival and Instagram have partnered up for the first ever TIFFXINSTAGRAM SHORTS FESTIVAL.  The concept is to celebrate filmmakers around the world to share their original creations.

Content Creators can now submit a 60 second film.  There will be 30 finalists selected from a panel of judges that currently include Ava Duvernay, Xavier Dolan, Rachel Ryle and Nabil Elderkin.  Two more additional judges are expected to join the panel.  There will be one filmmaker chosen to receive the Judge’s Choice Award.

Submissions are open between July 6th-July 20th.

As more well established film festivals around the world begin to team up with digital media companies, content creators have greater opportunity to get their work noticed.

Earlier this year Tribeca Film Festival worked together with Snapchat for Tribeca Snapchat Stories and Sundance Film Festival had Festival Director John Cooper create a Snapchat Takeover, featuring live stories that were taking place within the festival for Snapchat stories.
